ARE YOU A GRAND MILLENIAL?
Grandmillennials as phrased by Emma Bazilian, (Feature editor at House Beautiful) are typically 20-30 something-year-olds (millennials) with a love and appreciation for interior design styles from their grandparent’s era. As you probably know, there’s a notion that all millennials are minimalist when it comes to interior design. But that’s not quite the case as a number of us like the Grandmillenials are unapologetically maximalist.
Grandmillennial interior design or the “Grandma chic” interiors as its popularly known is a young or modern twist to an Old Fashioned English Country house. It’s sort of your license to introduce “modernity” into an old fashioned home.
A Grandmillennial room would typically have, Matching curtains and wallpaper, Botanical prints, ruffled cushions, Blue and white porcelain plates and vases, Dangling door signs, pleated lampshades, wicker furniture and a lot of Needlepointing with modern punchlines. Neddlepointing is something that has been associated with the older generation but recently there’s been a surge in the number of young Neddlepointers. Stores like Laura Ashley and Next Home are your best bet if you leave in England and need to shop this style.
Needlepoint cushions with funny lines
The style suits every room in a house but I think it speaks loudest in a Living room and a bedroom too. So the question is, Are you a Grandmillenial or not? I’m not but I really do appreciate its existence #teammaximalist.
Have a Good weekend Guys!
